Product Review

Paula’s Choice is a brand that I’ve REALLY been sleeping on! Founder Paula Begoun started her company 35 years ago, and launched a revolutionary skincare brand in the western world. The brand strives to provide products that are transparent, backed by research and completely honest. One thing I really appreciate is how they indicate the purpose of each ingredient in a product. This way consumers can make informed decisions about what goes on their skin. Paula’s Choice products are cruelty-free, fragrance-free, environmentally aware and there’s a laundry list of toxic or potentially irritating ingredients that they never use.

I always support a brand that constantly aims to be truthful and better the life of the consumer. I was pumped when I got in contact with their team, I’ve been pining after them for so long. I was able to choose 2 products that I wanted to try, so keep on reading to see what goodies I received and learn more in my honest review!

2% BHA GEL EXFOLIANT

$29.50

I’ve been seeing the 2% BHA LIQUID EXFOLIANT all over Instagram so I was eager to give it a try. I’m not too sure why, but I received the Gel version instead. After comparing them online, the goal and ingredients are quite similar so I wasn’t really bothered by the mix up. It’s a BHA chemical exfoliant serum that works to remove dull skin, unclog pores, diminish wrinkles, hydrate and improve overall skin tone. Great ingredients include salicylic acid, grape seed, green tea, and willowherb extract, plus hyaluronic acid. This product can be applied twice a day, even to the eye area. I used it at night and avoided my eye area, but that’s just personal preference.

The gel texture is viscous and slightly sticky feeling, but once you let it seep in for a minute or two, it absorbs well. I found it really sunk in when I applied a sheet mask afterwards. The scent reminds me of soap, with a light acid aroma from the BHA (salicylic acid). I have to say I’ve been missing a solid BHA serum in my routine, and this one has been super effective! It’s gentle, yet very fast-acting. I’ve noticed my pores are much clearer, dark spots are steadily fading and any blemishes heal even quicker. This product has definitely become a staple in my routine, although I’d still like to give the liquid version a try.

I think it’s a little bit of a splurge for 3.3 oz., however it lasts quite a while because you only need 1-2 pumps at a time. I highly recommend this product for those looking to clear their pores, fight blackheads and acne and remove dull skin!

Peptide Booster

$52.00

Anti-aging products have been on my radar lately as I’ve noticed some wrinkles and collagen-loss. I know, I know… I’m only 26, but now is the time to get ahead of the aging curb! So that’s why I chose this booster. I’ve been seeing all the various boosters as well, so I was excited to check this out. I would describe them as ampoules (highly concentrated serums) that work to target specific skincare concerns. This particular one aims to reduce fine lines, plump up the skin and improve discoloration.

This product includes eight powerful peptides, hydrating amino acids and repairing ingredients; some of my favorites are phospholipids, adenosine, arginine, phytic acid, threonine, hydrolyzed silk, aspartic acid and hyaluronic acid. The milky texture is slightly visous, yet runny. It smooths into the skin so easily and absorbs very quickly. There is a clean scent to this product.

I’m very pleased with the results so far! I believe that you need to use it long term to see improvement, but after a minimum of a 4 week trial, this product has been amazing! It hit all the marks and helped firm my skin, improve wrinkles and brighten my complexion. I simply applied a drop to the 4 sides of my face and massage it in at the serum stage. I often mix it in with a creamier serum. Now we can’t ignore the elephant in the room–this booster is very expensive for less than an ounce of product. Unfortunately, for your wallet, it’s very effective. It’s important to keep in mind that you only need a small amount, and it’s been lasting me well over a month. If it’s within your budget, I highly suggest trying it out. It’s so worth it!

My Paula’s Choice experience has been so pleasant! I’m already on their website scrolling to see what else my skin might like. Paula’s Choice products can be purchased online through their website or select stores, including Pharmaca locations and some Nordstroms. Overall, this is a brand we should all be using if we aren’t already. I’m so glad I woke up! What’s your favorite Paula’s Choice product?
