Jojoba Oil
I’ve been a fan of jojoba oil, even before it was a prominent ingredient in a lot of skincare products. It come from the plant Simmondsia chinensis. The oil itself is about 50% of the seed. It has incredible benefits for the face, body, and hair. Before I got serious about skincare, I used 100% pure jojoba oil as a “moisturizer” (to be clear, oils don’t moisturize they seal in moisture. That’s why it worked after washing and toning my skin back in the day.) To be honest, my skin loved it!
The biggest misconception about facial oils is that they will clog your pores, BUT the oils that can be used on your face, are light-weight and comedogenic. Jojoba oil is one of them! It is fast absorbing and deeply penetrates the skin barrier to soften and nourish. It’s loaded with fatty acids, vitamin B and E, and antioxidants. Benefits include anti-aging, anti-acne, and antimicrobial properties. It’s also very popular when it comes to improving stretch marks.
Jojoba oil has a faint nutty smell, and it usually appears as a light, golden yellow color. It doesn’t feel greasy at ALL. I can’t reiterate enough how well is sinks into the skin too. I’ve truly seen the softening and brightening effects when using jojoba oil–and products formulated with jojoba oil–in the past. If you’re looking to use it plain, I highly suggest you use a trusted source and purchase 100% pure cold-pressed jojoba oil. Higher quality will provide the most nutritious benefits. I usually shop for it on Amazon or a health food store (ie. Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, etc.)
Now let’s chat about some great products formulated with jojoba oil:
Hanskin, Pore Cleansing Oil [PHA]
$25
I’ve mentioned this oil cleanser before, and it really shows results when it comes to demolishing blackheads. Oil cleansers are especially helpful because they are working to remove dirt and excess sebum anyway. This liquid cleansing oil glides across the skin so nicely and has a lovely citrus scent. It contains jojoba oil, green tea seed oil, grape seed oil, tea tree oil, olive oil, aloe, and PHAs (polyhydroxy acids). Its main focus is preventing breakouts and keeping blackheads and dead skin away.
I always have insanely smooth, hydrated skin after using this cleansing oil. The jojoba oil does an amazing job at softening my skin. The price point for over 10 fl. oz. of product is a great deal too. It lasts forever! Check this out on Soko Glam.
Klairs, Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

$23
I’ve discussed this oil cleanser multiple times as well, so you already know how good it is! The black in the name doesn’t just mean it’s great at getting rid of blackheads. It contains black bean oil, black current seed oil, black sesame oil, and jojoba oil. This product really provides clearer, SOFTER skin the next day. It was the first oil cleanser that showed me physical results of dirt being washed away. It helps keep any breakouts from getting worse as well.
While there isn’t a ton of product, it’s still magic. The pump dispenser can be a turn off, especially if you’re someone who travels. Luckily, this bottle comes with a stopper you can take on and off. It’s definitely saved me some oil stained clothes when going on trips. You can find this product on Soko Glam.
Klairs, Rich Moist Soothing Cream
$23
Here’s another product I’ve mentioned in the past! I personally don’t use this moisturizer, but I bought it for Mr. Skin Quench. It includes shea butter, jojoba oil, ceramides, papya fruit extract, and so many other natural components. When it comes to the texture, he reports that it’s very light weight, so much so that it feels like he has nothing on his face. I think that’s saying something, especially coming from someone with facial hair. He tells me that there is no scent, and it’s very absorbent.
Mr. Skin Quench has noticed that using this cream helps heal his blemishes at a quicker rate. According to him, the cream prevents these spots from becoming dry and flakey as they heal. While he hasn’t tried any other moisturizers yet (we’ll work on that), he is definitely enjoying sticking to this one. I will also say that his skin stays looking dewy, and not too greasy throughout the day too.
The cream comes in a 2 oz. container, and a little goes a long way. While Mr. Skin Quench is guilty of *gulp* skipping his routine every now and then–which I do not condone–it has lasted him quite a while. I think this product is a decent price for what you’re getting. Find it on Soko Glam.
Melanin Haircare, Multi-Use Pure Oil Blend

$17.99
Full disclosure, I do work for Melanin Haircare, BUT I was using this product prior to my employment, and I absolutely love it. While I do use it to seal moisture into my hair and scalp, I use it as a moisturizer now as well and it’s the best thing! There are great natural oils in here like jojoba, sweet almond, baobab, argan, avocado, and vitamin E. All of these are very light-weight and absorb into the skin really quickly. There is a lovely natural oil smell as well.
I typically apply this right after the shower, when my skin is still damp. I instantly have soft, hydrated, glowing skin! This could easily be used on the face as a last step oil too. You really only need a few drops per section of your body because it spreads so well. With my most unbiased opinion, I’d say it’s very affordable because you can use it for your hair and skin. The bottle holds 8 oz. and a little goes a long way. Not to mention there are high-quality oils included that are usually pretty pricey on their own. Check it out exclusively on Melanin Haircare’s website.
Oge’s, Lavender Face and Body Cream
$20
I was recently gifted this cream and it is heavenly! Oge is a small business owner, so I was more than happy to give this a try. Her products are natural and cruelty-free. This cream is very luxe! Ingredients included are shea butter, shea nut, jojoba, argan, and lavender oils. This stuff smells INCREDIBLE! The warm shea butter scent mixes with the lavender very nicely. It reminds me of a spa day/childhood. The cream moisturizes the skin and provides lasting moisture throughout the night and even the next day.
This cream may seem a bit difficult to spread because of how thick it is, but I recommend applying it while you’re still a little wet after the shower. The container holds 6 oz. Because I moisturize my skin everyday, it only lasted me a couple of weeks, but using this product is such a lovely sensory experience. I did not try it on my face, but I don’t see why you couldn’t! My only issue was with some leakage when it was shipped to me. There was a strong lavender scent and some of the oils soaked through the box it came in a tiny bit, but what can you do? The product was in tact, and that’s what matters. I would recommend giving this a try if you’re looking for a spa like butter that will make your skin feel like Cleopatra’s!
Jojoba oil has been a favorite of mine for years. In fact, this makes me want to experiment with going back to the 100% pure stuff. Hmm… Let me know about your experience with it below!
