Frank Body
Frank Body was one of the first popular brands that flooded my feed when I popped up on the skincare scene. The brand offers natural, non-toxic and cruelty free skincare made fun. These babes are based out of Australia. You might recognize them from their unique coffee-based formulations. I was grateful to receive a Frank Body gift card, from which I was able to purchase some goodies to review for you all. I purchased everything through their website, but you can find them at Ulta as well. Now let’s get into it!
Original Coffee Scrub
$16.95
The trending scrub is classic. It’s meant to help exfoliate your body, but that’s not all! Frank claims the scrub works to improve breakouts, scars, cellulite and stretch marks. In fact, there are tons of before and afters with drastic improvements that are hard to ignore! The ingredients contain: coffee grounds, sweet almond oil, salt, brown sugar, orange oil, vitamin E, soy bean oil, and cinnamon derived benzyl alcohol. Once you open the bag, you’re hit in the face with a strong coffee smell. As an infrequent coffee drinker, it can be a bit overwhelming at first, but I grew to enjoy it quite a bit. The texture is very gritty but still feels nourishing and moisturizing due to the oils.
I used this scrub 2-3 times a week until it was finished and I have to say this was one of the best scrubs I’ve tried! Now, I can’t say much about the cellulite and stretch mark claims, as I didn’t notice any differences in that area. However my skin did feel baby-butt smooth for the following 24 hours every time I used it. It helped smooth out rough skin, especially on my feet.
My only complaint is the packaging. It’s really not helpful when in the shower; you have to pour or scoop out the product and grains get stuck in the ziplock part, making it difficult to seal tight again. I use it in the shower, so this also makes the product susceptible to getting excess water inside. I’ll also note that there is quite a bit of clean up after. If you have a detachable shower-head like me, no problem! If not… I’m sorry! Regardless, I think the price point is fair. I definitely recommend trying out this Frank classic.
A-Beauty Coffee Scrub
$18.95
Out of all the other coffee scrubs, I chose this beauty. I love that it’s made with ingredients that are native to Australia like: finger lime, eucalyptus, macadamia oil and kakadu plum. The finger lime and kakadu plum have naturally occurring AHAs, to aid in exfoliation. Other great ingredients are coffee grounds, sweet almond oil, sugar, lemon peel oil, lime caviar extract and vitamin E. This product smells similar to the Original Coffee Scrub, just with a hint of citrus.
Frank claims that it helps with brightening the skin and softening hyperpigmentation. I used this scrub the same way, after finishing the Original Coffee Scrub. I experienced similar results with this one. A plus was the brightened skin; I felt very glow-y after using this scrub. This one costs a tad more, but I’m sure it’s due to the Australian ingredients included. An added bonus– I purchased this when the wildfires in Australia were at their worst, so any proceeds made from this scrub were contributed to relief efforts, which is amazing! Again, although $2 more, this price is still fair. It’s definitely worth a try!
Body Cream
$21.95
I haven’t tried a new body cream in a while, so I was excited to give this a try. This cream is formulated to moisturize and firm the skin. It’s made with shea butter, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, cocoa butter, pomegranate extract, vitamin E and more. The texture is so rich and creamy, but really has to be worked into the skin. I suggest applying to moistened or damp skin after the shower. At first I really didn’t like the smell. To me it smelled like artificial birthday cake, with a hint of rubber factory. Just being honest here! However, after a while it kind of grew on me and the sweet cocoa butter scent became clearer to my nostrils–weird but true.
Overall this cream was very moisturizing! Like I said, it was easier to spread and rub into the skin with some residual moisture from the shower, but it definitely kept my skin soft and hydrated. I do think you can find other natural moisturizers or sealants out there that are just as good, if not better. This cream is a bit pricey too, but if you’re interested I say give it a try.
Glow Mask
$21.95
I typically purchase detoxifying clay masks, so the Glow Mask was a new world for me. It’s meant to moisturize, de-puff and brighten the skin. It’s formulated with cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil, kaolin clay, coffee extract, raspberry and cranberry seed oils, manzanita, licorice root extract and more. The texture is smooth and creamy, and it glides onto the face easily. The scent has that same birthday cake smell again, but it’s more pleasant.
After double-cleansing, I let this mask sit for 5-10 minutes. I’ve used it occasionally in the morning because I don’t really have a place for it in my normal routines. However if you want to use it regularly, I recommend 2-3 times a week. Upon rinsing off this mask, I noticed my skin felt smooth, cool and refreshed. My pores felt tighter, but the glow was seriously lacking in my opinion. It’s a fun mask to have, however I don’t think it’s a must have. It doesn’t do anything special for the skin, therefore I often forget to use it. This product is in the appropriate price range so if you want to try it, go for it. I just don’t think it really did much for me.
Lip Scrub
$14.95
BONUS TIME! These next two items I purchased ages ago, but I wanted to include them in this Frank Body Fest. This beautiful Lip Scrub was created to buff away flakey dead skin, while nourishing and moisturizing the lips. Some great ingredients include sugar, beeswax, coffee grounds, coffee seed oil, macadamia oil, grape extract and vitamin E. The texture is gritty yet oily and moisturizing. The scent is just heavenly; there is a strong coffee smell but sweet macadamia comes through too and it’s honestly like dessert is near by.
I often forget to exfoliate my lips, but I’d recommend doing it 2-3 times a week. I typically do this step after washing my face. I simply take a small amount, because a little goes a long way, and gently rub around my lips in circles for a minute or two. Coffee grounds can be harsh on the skin so I go very slow when using it on my lips. I found that it did help exfoliate and help the Lip Balm apply smoother, however it didn’t always get all the flakey dry bits. And while the oils are nice, it did leave a bit of a film on the mouth area. It also can spread outwards to the face. I do think this product is expensive for what it is as well. It’s just $2 off from the Original Coffee Scrub which doesn’t make sense to me. Overall I enjoyed it, I just suggest being very light-handed.
Lip Balm
$11.95
I went and saved the best for last friends! This luxe, multi-purpose Lip Balm is here to save your dry and chapped lips, cuticles, and dry patches. This product consists of lanolin, beeswax, safflower oil, grapeseed oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil, coffee seed oil and vitamin E. Most importantly, it’s petroleum free! The texture is extremely thick, however because of the coconut oil and beeswax, it does have a melting point. If the product is warm, it will squeeze out more easily (be careful!) Lip Balm smells like delicious coconut coffee too.
I’m obsessed with this product! So much so that I repurchased three with this gift card. It feels so luxurious on the lips! It not only coats and glosses the lips, but it deeply hydrates them for a LONG time! I’m talking I can apply in the morning and go for half a day or more without needing to reapply. That’s a big deal for me considering I’m a lip balm addict, constantly adding on more. It was extremely helpful in the winter too. Now I know this is on the high end for lip balm, but hear me out; as long as you don’t lose your lip balms, it will last you AGES! You really only need half a pea size amount for each use. Just go a head and buy this now. You’ll want to kiss yourself, I promise.
My Frank Body experience turned out to be very pleasant, cheerful and delicious! I love the brand’s mission, their ingredient choices and their cute and flirty packaging. Aside from Lip Balm and the Original Coffee Scrub, I don’t think their products are must haves, but they’re a a nice treat. We should all treat ourselves sometimes though, shouldn’t we?
